Best Time to Sell Holiday 2014?

Yep, you heard us right.  The very best time to sell Holiday for next year is while this year’s décor is still up!

So, even though you are exhausted after all those days and nights of Installation, get out there and visit your clients. It is then that the two of you can look over the stunning Atrium Lobby. No better time to discuss any changes or additions for next year’s display. Not a bad idea to get them to initial the next year’s contract! We also suggest taking photos of everything while it is in place, printing the best, hero shot out and framing it for their desk.

Let’s face it. These are not permanent displays and memories fail after a few months. Strike while the iron is hot!

To Sell Holiday or Rent/Lease It?

While the bump in cash flow if you sell it is very nice, renting or “leasing" it is far more profitable over time and locks in clients over a number of years.  The normal contract is usually written for three (3) years.  Think of your design as the same for those years with a new design after that.  By new design we mean a change in colors not the basic PVC greenery.  The trees and wreath and garland are the equivalent of the little black dress.  The changes may be in ornamentation colors and or shapes. An easy fix.  You will need some sort of a written agreement to cover the three years.  We know of many companies that do it this way instead of an outright sale.  Keep in mind that most of the Holiday dollars come from labor to install and remove and anything you do to lock in multiple years is in your benefit.

How to Figure Out Storage Fees?

Figure out the square footage of trees, a wreath hung from above, and bags of garland.  Most companies leave ornaments left on trees either covered with a thin plastic cover, or boxed; wreaths hung, and garland bagged.  Then, check out your local storage unit charges.  What do they charge per square foot?  Use that number as your guideline.  Coming up with a standard formula makes life ever so much easier.

Be Methodical

Yes, everyone is tired but just throwing stuff in the truck or van is a sure way to make life hell next year.  Try to store according to the reverse of your installs.  Last jobs installed go out first so that next year the jobs that need first install are easy to grab.  Label everything with huge tags with the client’s name, and the placement.  Example, garland says First Bank of Hoboken, third floor railing, left side (start) and so on.  Leave the attachments on so that your draping is automatic.  Photos are also a help to new installers.

Loyalty

Every Interiorscape company knows how important loyal clients are to their business.  No company can grow unless they can build on existing contract and sales. So it is for your vendors such as Autograph.  Just as you value your loyal clients, so do we value you!  Autograph is a family business and we welcome you to stop by our large showrooms in Cleveland and in Dallas at Showroom, # 398 WTC.
